The Reason(Book 1 in the Just Say Yes Series)
The Reason Cover.jpg

Synopsis:
Zoey James is in a funk. She has been through more in her twenty-three years than most people have experienced in their entire lives. After her ex-husband tries to take everything she’s worked so hard for, she makes one rule: Never date someone she works with.

When her father’s newly hired mechanic moves into the apartment above their family-run business, Zoey’s lonely life is flipped upside down.

As a teenager, New Zealand native, Andy Tate’s family is tragically killed in an accident, and he is taken in by his aunt and uncle. Andy is pulled away from the only place he’s ever known as home, and moved halfway around the world to Northern California.

Ten years and one failed marriage later, Andy finds himself living in a new city, with a new job at James Racing, and living in an apartment next door to Zoey, his new boss’s beautiful and damaged daughter.

After an interesting chain of events over one weekend, Andy and Zoey form an unexpected bond. Even though he’s the only one who can get through to her, she will do all that she can to keep him at a distance and not break her one rule.

Will Andy be the reason for Zoey to start living her life again, or will she continue on her downward spiral, until she finally hits rock bottom?

Excerpt:
Andy jumped off the tailgate, surprised to see me with my suitcase. “Where are you going?”
“I don’t know yet,” I admitted. “Just…away.” I popped the trunk of my car open and hurled
my suitcase inside.
“Are you leaving because of me?” he asked dismally.
“No, I’m leaving because of me.” I was being honest with him. Everything was my fault, and I needed to fix it. He simply made me realize how fucked up I truly was and how I didn’t want to be anymore.
“Please don’t go.” He walked over to me. He was too close so I backed away a step.
“I need to. I can’t be like this anymore.” He reached out for me, and I took another step back.
I couldn’t let him touch me. If he did, I would lose my momentum.
“When are you coming back?” he asked as he shoved his hands into his front pockets.
I shook my head. “I don’t know. When I feel better, I guess.”
He took another step forward, so I took another step back. I was pressed against my car and
unable to back up any farther. I could feel the desperation and concern radiating off him in waves.

“Thank you for cleaning off my car,” I said, changing the subject. When he nodded, I could
see him waging a war inside himself. He was about to lose it. Andy took another step closer, so he was only inches away from me. He pulled his hands from his pockets, and rested them on the trunk of my car, one on either side of me. He had me pinned.

“What are you do—” I started to say, and the next thing I knew, his hands were in my hair
and his lips were on mine. My mind went completely vacant as I surrendered to him. My lips parted, inviting him in. He slipped his tongue inside my mouth, and his stubble tickled my lips. My tongue instinctively met his as our kiss began to ignite a fire inside me that Rob had
extinguished long ago. Andy moaned quietly as he knotted his fingers firmly in my hair. I pulled him as close as I could get him, and before I knew it, he was reaching down, gripping me behind my knees, and lifting me onto the trunk of my car.

Just Say Yes(Book 2 in the Just Say Yes Series)

Synopsis:
After an accident lands Zoey in the hospital, her life, once again, takes a turn in the wrong direction.

Andy starts acting differently and won’t talk to her about what is bothering him. He’s distant and broody, and the closer it gets to Zoey’s upcoming vacation, the more unsettling Andy’s behavior becomes.

Once Zoey leaves for vacation, life doesn’t get any easier for her, until she begins to volunteer at a local horse ranch. There she meets Josie, a former therapist, who spent her career helping orphans. While she is working at the ranch, unbeknownst to her, Josie is helping Zoey better herself and heal.

Zoey and Andy both realize they have issues from their troubling pasts that need to be dealt with during the month that Zoey is gone, and they agree to work on them. By the time she comes home, they’ve both succeeded at putting their previous tragedies behind them and are looking forward to their future together.

On what should be the happiest day of their lives, Andy is completely blindsided by disturbing news from his past. While Andy is away and trying desperately to find out if the information he’s received is true, Zoey suspects a life changing situation that could either ruin her and Andy, or make them completely whole.

Can their relationship survive Andy’s devastation, or will their lives fall apart forever? Will Zoey find it within her newfound strength to hold them together?

Excerpt:
I watched Andy as he smashed the clutch and gas pedals as he shifted through the gears. And as quick as it started, it was over. I checked the reader board; he gained some time and speed with the second pass leaving the other racecar in the dust.

The car turned down the return road and we took our helmets off. “That was so fucking awesome!” I yelled over the noise of the motor and exhaust system. He looked over at me with a sexy grin on his face. “I’m glad you enjoyed it. You ready to go home now?”

Watching him race, pounding pedals and shifting gears, turned me on. He was in his element at the track, and seeing him race like that had me wanting him right there. I nodded and squeezed his thigh. I was ready to take him to bed, and the way he was looking at me, I was pretty sure he was thinking the same thing I was.

We made our way back to the car trailer and I quickly unbuckled myself and pulled my skirt back down to a decent length, then hopped out of the car.

Later, Andy pulled through the gate at the shop and backed the trailer into the space next to the fence. I jumped out and unhooked the trailer for him so he could park his truck.
After seeing me change the tires on my car after Rob slashed them months ago, he thought it
was hot when I helped with things like that. I opened the side door of the trailer, then flipped the light on inside to get the small ice chest and a few other items we had packed for our night at the drag races.
When I turned around, Andy was standing in the doorway of the trailer. He had that look on his face. Oh my. He stepped inside and pulled the door shut behind him.
“Do you know how fucking hot you looked with your skirt hiked up around your hips, strapped down in my car?” he asked as he stalked over to me.

Andy backed me up against the front of his car. I was so ready for whatever he planned on doing to me. I wrapped my arms around him as he ran his hands down the back of my thighs to lift me up onto the hood of the Camaro. He kissed me fiercely, his tongue darting into my mouth, licking and tasting.
He broke our kiss just long enough to pull my shirt off over my head. Swiftly, he unsnapped my bra and pulled it off, tossing it onto the hood of the car.
I pushed his shirt up and he pulled it the rest of the way off for me as I undid the button and
zipper of his pants. I pushed his pants and boxers down over his hips to free his cock. He backed up long enough to reach up under my skirt to pull my panties off. I kicked off my sandals to put my feet on the front bumper for balance. He pushed my skirt up my hips then lifted me up and forward so my ass was at the edge of the hood.
He kissed me again before he pushed me backward so I was lying on the hood. He knelt down in front of the car, gently pushing my legs apart. Holy fuck…I am gonna enjoy the hell outta this.

For Zoey James, life hadn’t always been easy. Until she met Andy Tate. Things changed the second she met him, and she finally had a reason for breaking down the walls she had built around herself.

The beginning of her relationship with Andy was rocky at best, but eventually they built a life together. A beautiful life.

The day Andy proposed to Zoey, she said yes.

That same night, Andy was completely blindsided by news from his past. He had lost yet another person to death. A person he didn’t even know existed.
Devastated by the news, Andy made a rash decision and moved home to New Zealand. Without Zoey.

But now, Zoey is given news that will change both of their lives forever. Instead of Zoey building the walls back up around her, she makes a choice to fight.

She is fighting for her happiness, fighting for Andy, and most of all, she is fighting for the life that they have created together.

And she has no intention of losing.

Excerpt
“Come on baby girl,” I said as I rested my palm against my belly. “Let’s go get your daddy and bring him home.”

Once I arrived in the waiting area to board the plane, it hit me that I was on my own until I reached New Zealand, and I had never been more scared in my life.
My friends and family were so supportive of me, but it was time for me to go to Andy, and support him. He was devastated by his loss, but I had all the answers he needed. I hoped it would be enough, and he would come home with me. I was willing to give up everything to be with him and our daughter. I would give up my store, my apartment, and my life in Sacramento if I had to. Before Andy, I never would’ve considered it, but he and our little girl meant more to me than any possession.

Wanting to be alone with my thoughts, I found a seat away from everyone. I pulled my iPod out of my purse, set it to shuffle and people watched while I waited for the call to board the plane.

I was too nervous to do anything else.

As I waited for the plane to take me to him, the perfect song came on, and it helped calm my nerves. “Set Fire to the Third Bar” had the exact lyrics I needed to get me in the right mindset for my trip. The lyrics talked about looking at a map and being only inches away from the one you loved, but being so far away physically. I was just inches away from him on a map, but over six thousand miles separated us.

I played it a few times in a row, and by the time I moved on to the next song, I was feeling more confident with my decisions. People began stirring around me, so I took my earbuds out and put my iPod away.

It was time to board the plane.

Author Bio:
I am a self-published author of the Just Say Yes series. There are three books in the series, The Reason, Just Say Yes, and Beautiful With You. All three books are about the same couple, Zoey and Andy.

I reside in Northern California with my husband, Jake, and all of our rescued pets. I was born and raised in a 'car family' so I've always been around old Chevy's.

Never in my wildest dreams did I think I'd become a writer, even though it's in my blood. My grandfather was a self-published writer as well in the 50's and 60's, publishing four or five books before he passed away in the early 70's.

So far, I have four books written, and three more on the back burner that I will work on as my busy life allows. I work full time, and writing is a hobby, along with my other favorite hobby, photography.

In my "spare" time, aka vacation, I love to travel! My ultimate vacation has been to New Zealand, where we saw my favorite sports team, The All Blacks, play an amazing rugby match. We also visited Hobbiton where The Shire scenes from The Lord of the Rings was filmed. I plan to travel back to New Zealand as many times as I can!

So that is me. I am quirky, tattooed, music addicted, loyal, protective, and just me. :)
